07/30/2021 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Cole continues to shine with his baseball abilities at the Pro Select training. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 3.48 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all files through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel.

01/03/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Fresno, CA Cole is a lean catcher in the class of 2025. Behind the plate, he sets up in an athletic stance using active footwork in his blocking technique. Blocking was solid as he kept a good down angle with his chest and recovered well getting to his feet quickly. Working on getting down to the ball quicker will improve blocking ability. He receives well with the ability to stick the ball with a firm glove. Exchange is clean and arm action is short/quick, making accurate/on-line throws down to his target. Offensively, he steps in the box with a line drive approach with a square setup. He keeps is weight centered while getting his front foot down on time. Unlocking and driving his lower 1/2 will help to increase power. Only a 2025 grad - Cole still has a ton of time to develop to get to where he wants to be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
