08/11/2019 - College PREP - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Cole continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. He did show at 1B for the first time at the event. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 82 mph. Fastball shows a range of 78-82 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a plus feel for pitch with slight tailing action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a closed setup. He has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and utilizes his lower half well. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball exploding off the bat when centered with power showing best to the pull side. At 1B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he shows proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and he presents well out front and shows the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness.

03/10/2019 - College PREP - Raleigh, NC Cole is a tall, athletic LHP who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77 mph. Breaking ball sits from 63-66 mph with 1/7 shape with gradual break. Changeup sits from 68-71 mph with tailing action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Overall, Cole is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
