01/25/2015 - College PREP - Jackson, MS Cole is a lean, athletic RHP/3B that will graduate in 2016. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level. Delivery is repeatable allowing his arm action to work long and well to the plate through a high 3/4 arm slot. He shows a smooth / easy tempo through a strong balance point. Arm strength is solid as he topped out at 85 mph. Fastball shows a range of 81-85 mph with sinking action. Changeup is best off pitch showing a plus feel for as he maintains arm speed with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches, attacking hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 3B, Feet are active as he moves well laterally and works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. He attacks balls, displaying smooth, clean actions and shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Defensive grades will continue to improve as he plays through balls while presenting hands more out front and increases foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a balanced / squared approach and he tracks the ball well. Hands are loose, working through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more efficiently. Cole has an upside and promising future on the mound as he will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
