11/07/2010 - College PREP - Shreveport, LA Cole showed some improvements in his game during his workout in Shreveport, LA. He is an athletic Cather with very good defensive skills. Cole has soft, sure hands, quick feet, and he moves well laterally. He stays low, gains ground, and he blocks the baseball extremely well. A little wider base and added arm strength will help very solid skills get even better. Offensively, Cole has a square set-up, proper load, and good balance. He is an aggressive hitter with some bat speed and an opposite field approach. Improved barrel accuracy will help offensive tool grades get better.

08/04/2010 - Pirate City World Series 2010 - Session 1 Cole is a catcher with a solid, strong frame that is well suited for his position. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.37 60 time. Feet are quick and active in working in line with his target through a quick transfer / exchange with pop times showing a range of 2.12-2.29. Throws display life, carry, and accuracy into his target. Receiving and blocking skills are quality tools and will play well at the next level as he shows off his athletic abilities. Offensively, Verret shows an aggressive approach as he displays quick hands that work inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. He has strength in his swing, displaying a solid feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off his bat as he maintains plus bat speed through the baseball. Cole has a lot of potential with the makings to be a solid offensive and defensive catcher. He is very active and shows plus leadership qualities as he will take control.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
