11/17/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Montgomery, AL Coleman showed nice upgrades in many aspects of his game during his last workout with The Factory. He raised arm velocity to 69 MPH, exit velocity to 70 MPH, and showed a spike in hitting. At 3B, Coleman gets in a good fielding position, and he makes plays on balls hit his way. He fields the backhand cleanly, gains ground, and throws with accuracy and momentum across the diamond. On the mound, Coleman has good size, a balanced delivery, and he rotates through toward his target. He mixes his pitches well and competes in the zone. Offensively, this RHH has good timing, a square stance, and he loads his hands well. He has a short swing path, makes consistent contact, and he uses his lower body well. Work on the following will continue to help skills improve.

Defense
1. Field lower
2. Exchange
Pitching
1. Smooth actions
2. Release
Offense
1. Avoid drifting
2. Balance
3. Barrel accuracy

07/07/2019 - Baseball Factory Cleveland All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Coleman is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Cleveland All Star Experience. In the field, Coleman shows active footwork and makes the routine plays. He gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and strong through his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Coleman improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load on time and takes a level swing, leading to consistent line drives. Coleman can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. On the mound, Coleman separates his hands on time and stays inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at at 60mph. Breaking ball sits from 43-46mph. Knuckleball sits from 40-41mph. Being more controlled getting to a balance point can help Coleman improve as a pitcher. With five more years to develop, Coleman has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

06/09/2019 - Accelerated Interactive Video Program - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Coleman is a tall 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2024. In the field, Coleman shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He takes a direct swing and produces solid line drives. On the mound, Coleman gathers over the rubber and works with a good tempo. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 60mph. Breaking ball sits from 45-46mph with 11-5 break. Knuckleball sits from 40-41mph. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Cleaner exchange
2. Quicker release
Hitting
1. Smoother load
2. Lower half drive
Pitching
1. Earlier hand separation
2. Looser arm action

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
