01/25/2008 - Pre-Season Invitational Tournament - 2008 Norton improved his 60-yard dash time, down from 7.82 to 7.72. Game situations brought out some leadership skills, and showed that he had some feel for the game behind the plate - was assertive and vocal, did a great job of directing the field. In addition, he showed aptitude and the ability to make adjustments - specifically with his application of receiving instruction into the game. Still needs to work to maintain more level shoulders when throwing. Release times were fairly consistent with what we have seen before, in the 2.18 to 2.37 range. At the plate, he needs to continue to work on getting loaded better - hands need to separate away from stride foot. Can also improve weight transfer through contact. Overall, has shown continued progress and shows potential for more given his aptitude and overall set of intangibles.

10/07/2007 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Colin is a tall athletic looking player. Defensively, shows soft hands and a quiet body. Stays low. Has a long release and slow feet which accounts for pop times. Needs to get down quicker on balls in the dirt to stick body in front of ball. Not afraid to use body and get dirty though. At the plate, shows a good lower half with bat speed and barrel accuracy. Uses the entire field. Can shorten swing some to increase bat speed and power.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
