Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

03/08/2015 - National Tryout - Indianapolis, IN Collin continues to show a lot of upside on the mound. He kept the ball low in the zone and delivered his pitches on a sharp down-ward plane with his 6'5 frame. He showed an ability to spin his breaking ball with 11/5 shape, and showed feel for a sinking CH. Offensively, he uses the middle of the field and tracks well with a quiet head. He generates decent bat speed and with a more compact barrel delivery will boost his bat speed and hit with more pop. Defensively at first, he is a large target for other infielders and shows some feel around the bag. He works his feet to get in a good fielding position and throws with a clean arm stroke around the diamond. In all - Collin continues to show progress and projection in this game and still has two years left to develop.

10/01/2014 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Collin showed as a RHP/1B with Baseball Factory at the AZ Freshman / Sophomore Fall Classic. On the mound, he threw two-pitches for strikes, topping out at 82 MPH with his FB and spinning an 11/5 CB from 65-66. He has a lengthy body with projection as he adds strength to his frame over the next couple of years. He Has a good tempo in game and repeats his delivery well. More lower half drive and added core strength will increase velocity and effectiveness. Defensively, he gets a good read off the bat, works around the ball and fields with his body in front. He gets deep with the glove and needs to work his body lower to get the hands in front to make the glove more sure. Offensively, he is aggressive and takes hacks. He has natural leverage and will continue to strike the ball with greater power as he levels out his plane and extends through contact. All in all - Collin is a very coachable player that has a positive attitude and mature personality.

07/06/2014 - College PREP - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Colin is a RHP who has a long/lanky pitcher's frame (6'6"/175). He works with smooth mechanics and repeats his delivery well. Arm is loose/free and he gets downhill and in-line toward the dish. FB tops out at 79 mph while showing run. Slider has 10/4 shape while changeup shows sink and is compliments FB well. A long toss program will aid in developing arm-strength which will help velocity to climb. As a hitter, Colin shows a closed setup with a solid base. He likes the ball middle-in and will pull it with pop. More extension through contact will help power to raise. Only a 2017 grad - Colin is a talented arm who will be one to keep an eye on as he develops his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
