08/04/2010 - Pirate City World Series 2010 - Session 1 Bowyer continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.33 runner. He takes quick first steps on his approach, reading balls well off that bat as he displays range in tracking down balls. Offensively, Collin shows a balanced approach that allows his hands to work inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a level swing path. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-79 mph.

04/25/2010 - College PREP - Ashburn (DC), VA Collin is a two-way guy in the OF plus on the mound with a tall, thin frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature, filling out. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.39 60 time as he utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles to track down balls. He needs to work behind more to play through with his momentum to his target but plays hard and display a solid feel for the OF. Throws show some carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly but will benefit from a long toss program. Offensively, Bowyer shows an aggressive approach through a level swing path as he works to keep hands inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. Power is best to the pull side with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-79 mph on a downhill plane. Off speed pitches are average, needing further development to be quality pitches at the next level. Collin has a lot of potential as he will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his defensive and offensive abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
