07/17/2017 - Factory Development Institute National Select Program Collin is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Factory Development Institute National Select Program. In the field, Collin shows efficient footwork and makes the routine plays. He gains momentum well on his throws and works to keep them accurate to his target. Collin can improve defensively by working into a more atheltic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and finishes with a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to consistent contact and gap to gap pop. Collin can improve as a hitter by staying through the ball more. On the mound, Collin gathers over the rubber well and separates his hands on time. His arm action is clean as he extends through, finishing square to the plate. Collin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 69mph with good sinking action. Breaking ball sits at 60mph with 12-6 break. Changeup ranges from 63-65mph with good sinking action as he throws with fastball arm speed. Collin can improve as a pitcher by working to repeat his delivery consistently. Overall, Collin is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his game.

04/02/2017 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Collin is a lean RHP/2B who will graduate in 2018. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. In the MIF, he displays clean actions. Feet are aggressive but needs to attack ball more and play through with his body. Glove action is soft but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 67-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Collin has abilities with a lot of room to improve his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
