02/03/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Parker (Denver), CO Collin continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At SS, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on feeds / turns of the double play. Throws are accurate with zip (86 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he only showed as a RHH and has improved his hitting / power potential through a balanced setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. Collin will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

10/01/2017 - College PREP - Parker (Denver), CO Collin continues to shine on the diamond. This athletic MIF has a solid all-around skill-set that continues to progress. Defensively, he has quick/active footwork and works from right to left on his approach to the GB. Hands are presented out in front as he funnels smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. As a hitter, he remains balanced and waits for a pitch he can drive. Hands are quick as he whips the barrel, squares the ball up and hits line-drives consistently. He is quick out of the box and down the line, putting pressure on the defense. Romero is a skilled MIF who has upside and will make an impact when he steps onto the field.

05/08/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Lakewood (Denver), CO Collin continues to show improvements in his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities have improved, displaying smooth / fluid actions. He works to get around balls and moves well laterally, flashing range. Hands are soft / clean as he presents on time. He shows off his athletic abilities on the backhand play. At the plate, he showed as a RHH with hands that were loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-75 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his effectiveness on the mound.

10/04/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Parker (Denver), CO Collin continues to progress in his game. Defensively, he has quick/active footwork moving well on the balls of his feet. He has fluid actions, smooth hands and a quick release to throw. At the plate, Romero has rhythm to load, waiting for his pitch. Swing is level/compact to and through the zone, resulting in consistent line-drives. More lower 1/2 drive will help to increase power. Collin is a very talented player who has a ton of upside with still a lot of time to develop his tools and get stronger.

06/16/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series Collin is a switch-hitting MIF who is a very solid all-around player. With the bat, he has an athletic setup with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an aggressive hack repeating his swing and hitting line-drives to all parts of the field. Defensively, he has smooth actions as he quickly takes good angles and works around the GB. He is sure handed, gathers well and makes accurate throws across the diamond. He has a high baseball IQ and is always thinking one-play ahead. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
