01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Colt continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and he showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Feet / hands work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry (91 mph velocity) on his throws. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, power potential is excellent through a tall setup. Hands are quick generating bat speed (84 mph exit velocity) through an aggressive swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with gap to gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 83-86 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Colt has a lot of potential and will get looks from the college coaches with his baseball abilities.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Colt continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At 1B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting abilities are outstanding with excellent power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 88 mph. Fastball shows good arm side run / sink. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Colt is a tall, solid RHP/1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting abilities with well above average power potential a closed. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 2 for 3 with a 3B. At 1B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. On the mound, he continues to shine as he displays a smooth, repeatable delivery that allows his quick arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 80-82 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. With 3 years to further develop, Colt has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
