Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Ryan is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who continued to showcase his skills during the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Colton takes a good first step and is efficient moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is on time getting into a simple load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent line drives. On the mound, Colton gathers over the rubber and works with a loose arm. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Colton shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72 mph with late arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 60-61 mph with sharp 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 66 mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Colton is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

11/07/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Colton is a young, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. In the INF, Colton shows good skills, clean hands, and he makes plays consistently. He stays centered, gathers well, and can throw from multiple arm slots across the diamond. Defense can improve by playing more through the ball, quickening footwork, and adding arm strength. On the mound, Colton has good balance, on-time separation, and he gets good extension on his pitches. He works well to his balance point, repeats his delivery well, and finishes in a complete position. More eyes on target, lower body, and command will help mound effectiveness spike. At the plate, Colton has an open stance, a smooth/fluid swing, and good balance. He swings aggressively, makes consistent contact, and he uses his lower body. Added lower 1/2, staying short, and work on timing all will help improve offensive numbers.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
