02/19/2024 - National Showcase - Omaha, NE Colton is a 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2026. Starts with a good prep step and plays with a sense of urgency. Tries to create good fielding and angles. Has a short arm stroke in back and throws from a 3/4 arm slot coming forward. A right-handed pitcher he gets to a good balance point and works with good direction down the mound. Gets chest to his glove and rotates to target. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped 73mph with arm side run, an 11/5 breaking ball that has tight spin, and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed. At the plate he hits from an upright and square stance. Starts with a short/square glide step and keeps his weight between his knees. A flat barrel path with ability to hit balls to all fields. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way player improving in all phases of his game.

01/12/2024 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Sarasota Colton is a 2026 3B/RHP who showcased his skills during the BF Spring Training in Sarasota. At 3B he closes distance on batted balls and works to center ball. Made consistent throws to first base from a high 3/4 arm slot. On the mound he is poised and has some feel for pitching. He gathers over the rubber and gets his chest to his glove. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 70mph with arm side run, a 10/4 shaped breaking ball, and a changeup with arm side run that he throws with FB arm speed. In 2 innings of work, Colton struck out 3 batters and didn't allow a run. At the plate he hits from an upright and even stance. Has a balanced setup to start and takes a square glide step. Colton flashes athletic actions in the field and on the mound. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

08/06/2023 - National Showcase - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Colton is a 2026 RHP/3B prospect from Council Bluffs, IA. At third, he does a good job of getting in a ready position with his prep step and shows off a lot of effort. He is able to make all the routine plays and really sticks the baseball. He makes consistent throws across the diamond with a long arm action. He works hard to maintain fluid movements in the field and work right to left. At the plate, he starts in an open stance and gets a good load back. He has a firm frontside with his lower half and routinely puts barrel to baseball. He recorded a max exit velo of 75 MPH and made good contact. On the mound, he throws from a high 3/4 slot and features a 3-pitch mix. He does a good job of gathering his balance over the rubber and gets on-time separation. He keeps his eyes on his target and extends through his release, doing a good job of staying squared to the plate. He works with nice tempo and has a controlled landing. He ran his FB to 70 MPH and showed some tail with the pitch. His CB has big break and tight spin and is an out pitch. With three more years of high school still out in front, look for Colton to continue to develop with eyes towards playing at the next level!

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
