Official Scouting Report

  • SSPosition Projection

10/16/2013 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Colton worked out at SS during his time in Arizona. Defensively, he showed good pre-pitch actions, he takes good routes to the ball, and his feet show to be playable. He keeps the ball in front of his body, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy across the diamond. At the plate, Colton has an open set-up, his swing is level, and he attacks the ball aggressively. Colton can switch hit, and shows to currently be better from the left side.

10/06/2013 - College PREP - Spokane, WA Colton continues to show solid abilities in his game. At SS, he presents well and shows good pre-pitch movements. He makes the play to his glove side smoothly and comes to get the ball, showing aggressiveness. He showed in the OF for the first time and takes good reads on balls hit his way. He plays through the ball well and makes accurate throws toward his target. Offensively, he has a simple approach from both sides of the plate (showing better as a RHH). As a righty; he stays through the ball at contact and shows some pull side pop. Peha is a solid all-around player and will only continue to improve.

12/27/2012 - Under Armour Recruiting Classic Colton is a solid young middle infielder with a pesky approach at the plate that netted him six hits in his ten at-bats at the Under Armour Recruiting Classic. He puts the ball in play consistently with a short stroke and a great 2-strike approach. From the left side he tends to drag his hands through the zone, taking a more inside-out approach. He is aggressive on the bases and gets good reads off the bat. At shortstop, his pre-pitch footwork is solid. He works low to high and stays in line to his target on the throw. He needs to work on fielding the ball out in front more consistently. He has a mature feel for the game and as has the chance to be a solid college player as his overall athleticism improves.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
