08/23/2008 - ACR-E - California - 3 Conner continues to show his foot speed while running the 60. In the infield, he fields out front with a good transfer, stays low through his backhand. Would like him to continue working on arm strength, playing through the ball and getting a quick first step. We saw him in the outfield for the first time, plays through the ball but would benefit from a stronger follow-through and keep feet moving to target. Conner is a contact hitter, used all fields and maintained balance through his swing. Would like to see him work on getting his front foot down sooner, to improve his timing. He projects best at 2B because of footspeed, may have an opportunity to play the left side of the infield when arm strength improves.

04/27/2008 - College PREP - Stockton, CA Conner is a young player with range in the infield. At 2B, Conner shows good lateral movement and somewhat soft hands. His arm action is nice and short and he remains balanced throughout the fielding process. A good long toss program will help to increase arm strength. Also, he needs to learn to field the ball on the balls of his feet instead of his heels. This will help his body adjust to any bad hops. At the plate, Conner has balance and a quiet approach. He makes consistent contact but pulls the ball too much. Letting the ball travel while creating some sort of load with his hands will help to better utilize the entire field and generate power.

11/09/2007 - Dodgertown Select Training Elliot is a solid athlete with a compact, quick right handed stroke. His hitting mechanics were sound for the most part, and he made solid line drive contact often. Defensive footwork is area for improvement, needs to get more on the balls of his feet and work to stay in a more athletic position from setup through the play on the ball. He is an intelligent young man with good work habits, giving him a chance to further develop his skills.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
