04/28/2013 - College PREP - Mesa (Phoenix), AZ Conner is consistently progressing in his game. This corner infielder has a big and strong build. Offensively, he swings from the left side and shows a simple approach. He jumps on the ball, delivering the barrel quickly, resulting in gap power. At 1B, he has good footwork around the bag and is a big target to throw to. At 3B, Mather's glove works well and he works from the ground up. He is sure handed, has a clean exchange, and makes strong throws across the diamond. Conner is an all-around solid player and should get some looks to advance his game to the next level.

05/20/2012 - College PREP - Mesa (Phoenix), AZ Conner continues to show similar ability at first base fielding the ball out in front of his body with playable feet and hands around the bag. At 3B, he shows a square fielding position with good bend for a big kid. Arm is accurate using multiple arm angles based on his positioning on the diamond. Conner can continue to improve fielding grades with increased foot speed to put his body in a better position to play through the ball. At the plate, Conner continues to show a nice smooth swing with gap-to-gap type power. He displays good hip rotation with hard consistent contact. Power will continue to improve with a stronger load in his swing.

07/09/2011 - Cape Cod Pro Select Training - July 9-13, 2011 Conner is a young, strong, 1st baseman with a strong lower 1/2. Defensively, Conner has playable hands and feet, and he moves well around the bag. He has a good glove angle, he keeps the ball in front, and he attacks the ball aggressively. Conner gathers himself well, and he throws with accuracy to his target. More pre-pitch actions, and playing in a lower position will help defensive numbers get better. Offensively, Conner has a good set-up, proper balance, and a smooth / easy swing. He has good barrel accuracy, he has pop into the gaps, and he stays through the ball well. If Conner can let the ball travel deeper, and spray to all fields more, solid offensive numbers can get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
