01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Connor displayed his sound athleticism at the Under Armour Baseball Factory Pre-Season All America, posting a 7.0 sixty and 4.5 home to first time from the left side. Offensively, he kept his head quiet throughout the swing to maximize barrel accuracy and stay in the middle with his approach. He was direct with the barrel to contact generating good bat speed and ripped a triple in one of his AB's. In the OF, he prepped his feet and moved efficiently to make plays with a sure glove. He was clean to exchange the ball and threw with a strong arm stroke on-line to his target. Overall - Connor is in shape to have a sound senior season.

07/18/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One West This LHH waits for his pitch and has the ability to drive it the other way. He swings against a firm front side and finishes with extension. In the OF, he aggressively tracks down balls in the gap. He gathers well and gains ground toward his target. A talented player - Connor will make an impact on the diamond.

01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Connor showed good ability in his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. Defensively, he displayed soft hands after aggressively attacking ground balls with good footwork. He flashed throws with carry and will continue to increase his arm strength over the next two seasons. Offensively, he hits from the left side with good balance and good hand/hip coordination. He uses an oppo approach and showed some barrel accuracy. In all - Connor is a projectable CF that fits in the top of the line-up, as a slap lead-off hitter.

10/16/2013 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Floyd showed as a 1B at the event and continues to show solid play in his baseball abilities. He displays plus footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. Throws are accurate, but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Conner shows an aggressive swing through a squared / athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more aggressively and adds overall body strength. He has a high ceiling with plus makeup as he is very coachable and works hard.

06/15/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Connor showed well in Omaha playing both 2B and 1B. His tall, lean body and ability to swing the bat from the left side point to a bright future. He went 5-14 at the event with 3 doubles and used the whole field well while showing some pop. Defensively he showed best at 1B where his flexibility and glove action allow him to help his fellow infielders.

06/02/2013 - College PREP - Santa Barbara, CA Connor is a tall multi-positional player who continues to show improvements at every event he attends. At first base, he shows active feet and good range, choosing his hops wisely while approaching the ball. While his exchange is quick his throws can be inconsistent. In the outfield, Connor is consistent with his glove and plays through the ball well. He should play more long toss focusing on changing his release point more out front so he can throw the ball more on a line. This should help with both strength and accuracy. At the plate, Floyd looks athletic and has balance with a through lower half. He has fast bat speed and makes consistent contact while hitting to all fields. He should focus some work on getting some hand movement to set up his swing. He could also use a little weight transfer leading into rotation. Connor has a nice swing but there is more power in there. I am sure he will continue to work hard as he is coachable and will continue to show improvement.

12/27/2012 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament Floyd only showed at 2B at the event where he has improved his defensive abilities. Feet are active as he works around balls, squaring up, and displaying clean hands. He needs to increase foot speed and play through balls more to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands work through a level swing path and makes consistent contact. He needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields and continue to improve hitting grade. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the ball jumping off his bat when centered with power numbers improving as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 1 for 4. Mental makeup is a plus as he is coachable and is a hard worker.

07/22/2012 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 4 Connor showed some pre-pitch actions, good hands, and the ability to make routine plays at 2nd base during his time in the Cape. He works around the ball, keeps it in front, and throws with accuracy to his target. Offensively, Connor has a good setup, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He gets some extension through the ball and uses his lower 1/2.

11/10/2011 - Arizona Fall Select Training - 2011 This week in Arizona Floyd displayed a very coachable attitude and the ability to make adjustments when needed. Defensively, he gets in an athletic fielding position and makes accurate throws around the diamond, but needs to learn to use his lower half on his throws and play through ground balls. At the plate, he has a slightly closed setup, a quiet stride and displayed some pop to the pull side. His abilities at the plate should continue to develop as he learns to create more separation and keep his weight centered.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
