06/24/2010 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Connor is a two-way player at 1B plus on the mound with a big, solid frame that stands 6'8 on the mound. He uses his tall frame to work on a downhill plane on the mound. Delivery is sound, showing proper mechanics with his fastball displaying a range of 70-72 mph as he needs to get on a long toss program. Off speed pitches are average, needing further development to be quality pitches at the next level. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches, changing speeds well. Defensively, he presents a solid target with proper footwork around the bag. Offensively, has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off his bat through a level swing path. He will use all fields as he keeps hands inside the baseball. At the event, he was 3 for 9. Stock on the mound will rise quickly as more arm strength is developed.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
