03/03/2013 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Connor is a tall and lanky 2B who has a smooth glove. Defensively, this 2B moves well around the ground ball and presents his glove, fielding the ball out in front. He moves well laterally and can get to balls hit up the middle. His arm strength is now best for 2B but will need to increase as he progresses, due to the speed of the game increasing. At the plate, Simpkins shows an open setup and centered balance. He gets into a loaded position, uses his lower 1/2 well and makes consistent contact. Taking a shorter/more direct swing path will help to increase bat speed and improve power. Connor is only a 2014 graduate who has some upside and will improve over the next year.
