04/11/2010 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Connor is a young two-way player in the OF plus on the mound with a tall, lanky frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Feet are active in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls in the OF as he works to get behind, playing through with momentum to his target. Hands and feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly, showings carry with accuracy on his throws. Offensively, Soblom displays a balanced approach as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power number will increase as he learns to load more, transferring weight properly through the swing and more overall body strength is gained. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-79 mph on a slight downhill plane. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch, displaying 11/5 shape with tight spin and early break as he needs to throw the pitch harder. Changeup is average with some run. He attacks hitters throwing strikes with all pitches as he has an upside on the mound as more arm strength is developed. With 2 years to further develop, Connor has potential abilities and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he improves.
