01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Cooper is an athletic RHH catching prospect who continues to show well on the diamond. With the bat, this righty displays an open stance with rhythm and active hands working back into a loaded/launch position. He fires the barrel with + bat speed, engages his lower 1/2 and creates good extension through contact. The ball jumps when centered as he drives it to the gaps (exit velo = 90 mph). Behind the dish, he sits in well with quiet/athletic actions and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. He gets around pitches in the dirt to his right and left and centers them up well. Transfer from glove to throwing hand is clean with accuracy down to 2B - pop times now at 2.21. Devall has a solid skill-set with a ton of upside as he's only a sophomore.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Cooper is a strong, athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.30 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft and he sticks in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 3 years to further develop, Cooper has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
