07/18/2024 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC Cooper is a talented 2B/RHP who is in the 2029 class. He recently impressed scouts at the National World Series. Scouts describe him as a “quiet leader who has a high baseball IQ for his age”. Defensively, he plays with athletic movements and quick feet. He funnels the ball well and can reads and pick his hop. He gets the ball in the air with a clean and quick release. Arm is accurate at 69 velo and uses multiple slots based upon his defensive zones. On the mound, he collected 3 K’s in 3 inn of work. He works with great tempo from a high 3 qtr. slot. His FB sat 64-6 and his CB shaped 11-5 at 52-3. At the plate, he stayed in the middle of the field and had several quality at-bats. He reached base 4 times (2 hits, 1 BB,1 HBP) in 7 PA. He las great barrel whip through the zone at 72-3 exit velo. Overall, Cooper is a player who plays above grade and will have a bright future in the game.

02/19/2024 - National Showcase - Gambrills, MD Cooper is an athletic 2B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick, work through a level swing path, and swings with intent. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight into a firm front side. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 58-64 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 5 years to further develop, Cooper has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
