09/29/2021 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic
Coy continues to showcase his baseball tools at the Arizona Senior Fall Classic. In the MIF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground in the MIF. Throws are accurate with carry across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel. On the mound, he shows a controlled, repeatable delivery allowing his quick arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 80-82 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

Coy continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. A leadoff type, hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. Defensively, he takes a quick first step (7.21 60 time) and has plus lateral range. He creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. DP turns are quick with zip (88 mph velocity) on his throws. Defensive abilities are outstanding as he shows big play potential. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 81-83 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his split finger with arm side run. Command / control is solid as he locates well to both sides of the plate.

Coy is a tall SS/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At SS, Coy shows efficient footwork and flashes good lateral range. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. Taking a better prep step can help Coy improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and works to barrel up the baseball. Coy can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Coy separates his hands on time and works with a clean arm. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. Coy shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 65-66mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 69-70mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Coy improve as a pitcher. With three more years to develop, Coy has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Coy is a tall, lean SS/RHP who will graduate in 2022. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 4 for 9 with 2 2B. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 70-74 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with tight spin and good depth. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 4 years to further develop, Coy has potential with time and room to progress his game.
