01/15/2010 - Vero Beach Spring Training & Competition - 2010 Styck threw his fastball between 70 and 75 again this outing, and did a good job of pounding the zone with fastball strikes. He did a good job of staying balanced through his delivery, allowing him to repeat his release point such that he could throw all three of his pitches for strikes. He can work to improve the rhythm and fluidity of his delivery, and needs to make sure he finishes his pitches consistently. At the plate, he showed some feel for the strike zone and did a good job of letting the ball travel deep into the zone. His balance was good, and he hit the ball the other way well. Can work to stay softer with his lead arm, and needs to keep his hands up through his load in order to help improve his bat angle to contact. His biggest area for improvement is defensively. He needs to work to quicken his feet such that he can reach better positions in which to make plays on the ball. His arm strength flashed good, and he showed desire to work and get better with the glove. He improved his 60-yard dash from 7.85 down to 7.67.
