05/21/2023 - National Showcase - Little Elm, TX Dakota is a 2025 SS/C prospect from Wichita Falls, TX. At short, he shows off efficient feet and covers ground to all sides, taking good angles to the baseball. He gets in a squared fielding position and presents his hands out in front, doing a good job of tracking the ball to the glove. His backhand is smooth and he keeps his eyes behind the ball. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate throws across the diamond from multiple arm angles. Behind the plate, he really tracks the ball well. His feet are efficient and he does well when blocking to get behind the baseball, tucking his chin nicely on balls in the dirt. He presents his hands out in front and gives his pitcher a good target. He works hard to get a quick exchange and make strong throws to his targets. At the plate, he starts in a tall stance and gets an on-time stride with a good load. He works hard to engage his lower half and get good separation. His swing path is direct to the baseball and he works hard to finish with good extension. He projects as a contact hitter. We are excited to see more of Dakota as he continues to develop over the next 2 years of high school!

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
