06/15/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Damian continues to develop his game at a steady pace on both sides of the ball. As a 3B, Damian continues to display a solid low fielding position, the ability to go side to side and the ability to consistently make the routine play. He keeps his feet active pre-pitch, will leave his feet to make the big play and will benefit from continuing to work on the slow roller read to improve comfort with glove or bare hand decision. As an OF, Damian positioned himself well, kept his feet active pre-pitch and showed the ability to get rid of the ball quickly. A good communicator, Damian will benefit from improving his first step off the bat, his angles to the gaps and should continue to work on using his legs more aggressively to throw with a crow hop to improve carry/flight. Damian competed on the mound as well; showing a low to mid 70's fastball and a curveball with 12/6 shape which he consistently threw for strikes. He pounded the zone while pitching to contact and kept his defenders involved with a brisk tempo. At the plate, Damian has an athletic set up with smooth rhythm and tempo throughout his swing. He had competitive at bats, has quick hands and showed flashes of pop when the ball was centered. He has a short swing, gets his lower half through and should continue to work in the weight room on strength/flexibility to get the most out of his skill set.
