01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Janoson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Defensive grades have improved, displaying smooth/clean actions. Feet are active as he works to square up balls, displaying clean/soft hands. He moves well laterally and is aggressive attacking ground balls. Defensive grade will continue to increase as he improves his feeds/turns of the double play. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an aggressive approach through a balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with hitting grades improving as he gets more reps and time on the field. Power numbers will increase as he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/28/2014 - College PREP - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Dan is a MIF who graduates in 2015. Defensively, he shows good prep and has an aggressive approach coming to get the ground ball. He fields the ball cleanly, gathers well and makes accurate throws across the diamond. Presenting his glove out in front will help to avoid getting the in-between hop. With the bat, this RHH shows a square setup with good balance. He takes a hack on a level path and drives the ball. He engages his lower 1/2 and hits the ball where it's pitched. Getting more extension through his finish will help increase power at the plate. Dan is a few adjustments away from taking his game to the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
