10/14/2012 - College PREP - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Daniel is a thick LHP/OF with a strong lower half that will graduate in 2014. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. In the OF, feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls through an aggressive approach. He needs to work on getting behind balls more to play through and improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but needs to develop more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Cameron is a switch hitter that shows best from the right side. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side as he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields and improve hitting grades. Power numbers will improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 69-72. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual breaking action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup showing a solid feel for with fading action. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches, changing speeds well. With 2 years to further develop, Daniel has abilities with time and room to improve.
