09/16/2012 - College PREP - Santa Barbara, CA Daniel is a 1B/RHP who graduates in 2015. At first base, he has soft hands and a clean exchange with playable footwork. He throws consistently from a high 3/4 arm slot and fields routine balls with flashes of good tempo. Working on his footwork/agility/foot speed will help his game and allow him to cover more ground and be more athletic in his fielding position. Offensively, Daniel has a tall setup with good rhythm and gap-to-gap hitting ability with a level swing path. His hand-eye coordination is solid and he has some pull side pop. Avoiding opening the left foot with the stride, will help keep his lower half more closed and keep the front side from flying off the ball. On the mound, he throws two pitches consistently for strikes with his curve-ball having 10/4 shape and late action. His change-up is his best pitch with some sink. He throws from over top arm slot with long arm action and good extension over the front side. He stays in line to the dish and has good rhythm/tempo. By keeping his eyes on the target and by avoiding being lazy with his glove side pull, he will show a jump in accuracy and velocity. Overall, the young dual position player has two more years to grow and improve his game to become a promising prospect at the next level.
