06/22/2012 - USA Baseball 17U Championships Daniel is a tall, solid RHP/1B with a solid pitcher's frame and will graduate in 2014. Currently, he projects best on the mound where he has a big upside. Delivery is sound / repeatable, allowing his arm action to work loose / quick to the plate. Arm strength is outstanding as he topped out at 88 mph. Fastball showed a range of 84-88 mph with good arm side sink. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape and show potential to be a quality pitch when he stays on top. Changeup shows plus feels for with sink / cutting action. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches and throws to contact. He had 3 quality outs at the event, picking up a win and save. Mound presence is a plus as he does not get rattled and displays a plus move to 1B. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag with clean hands that can pick balls out of the dirt and can play 3B if needed. At the plate, Harris shows a balanced approach with quick hands that flash bat speed through the zone. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball exploding off his bat when centered. At the event, he was 2 for 8 with 5 BB as he has a great eye and is patient at the plate. With 2 years to further develop, Daniel has the makings to be a quality on the mound and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches.
