04/07/2013 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Daniel is a tall, lanky RHP/OF that graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. Feet are active / aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind, playing through well. He needs to read balls better off the bat to take proper first steps, increase foot quickness to improve range and defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Stutts shows an athletic setup with balance. He loads well and displays quick hands, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. Hands are aggressive and work short / direct to the baseball and show a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 70-71 mph on a slight downhill plane. Breaking ball displays downward tilt with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained. With 2 years to further develop, Daniel has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his abilities.
