02/28/2010 - College PREP - Rocky Mount, NC Daniel is a young two-way player in the OF and as a LH catcher with a small thin frame that shows some projection as he continues to physically mature. Currently, he projects as an OF. Feet are aggressive in taking proper routes but needs to work in getting behind balls to play through with momentum to his target in the OF. He catches balls on proper side and plays hard. Arm slot is low causing tail on his throws and he will benefit by raising arm slot and getting instruction on proper foot work with his throws. Behind the plate, pop times show a range of 2.89-3.25 from a low slot. He sets up well but needs a lot of instruction in his skills behind the plate. Offensively, Troupe makes consistent contact but has some flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential. He needs to get his lower half more involved and learn to load his hands properly. He has also taken up pitching, though we have not yet seen him on the mound. With 2 years to further develop, Daniel has abilities with time and room to improve.
