01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Corvino continues to show solid baseball abilities, both defensively and offensively. Feet are active as he works to get around balls and squares up well. Hands are soft / clean / sure as he presents well out front. He needs to play through balls more and continue to improve foot quickness to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate, flashing carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Danny continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, lashing bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with power numbers continuing to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 1 for 5 with a BB and made hard contact several at bats.

12/08/2012 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Commuter) (Ages 14-18) Danny is solid aggressive hitter, who displays the ability to hit the baseball with power to all fields. He displays a athletic set up with a simple short stride and load, with a short and quick path to the baseball. Corvino displays very quick hands which allows him to cover the entire strike zone with no problem. Danny tends to wrap the bat during the load, but has the hand speed to make up the distance to the baseball, however when he begins to see better pitching the inner half will be harder to cover. He also needs to be patient and let the baseball travel into the hitting zone, with his hand speed he can let the baseball travel deeper than he thinks. Letting the baseball travel will improve the contact and the power as well.

09/15/2012 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Commuter) (Ages 14-18) Danny is a strong athletic player with good eye hand coordination, which allows him to get away with some things at times. Danny has a solid set up with a solid consistent stride and load, and also does a good job of attacking the baseball and hitting thru contact with great extension. He also does a very good job of using the entire body during the swing; this allows him to display good pop, as well as keeping the swing consistent while keeping the hands back. Danny has a high leg kick when striding; he is able to do it well during batting practice, but he needs to realize as the competition gets better it will be more difficult to have the high leg kick. Danny also lets too much weight get onto his front foot during the stride and load and the swing, when he begins his swing he tends to let his hips drift forward which allows that weight to be transferred to the front side. When finishing he needs to focus on keeping his chest back, and allowing the weight to be 50-50 or slightly on the back side. This will allow him to stay back on the off speed, and also will allow him to display a little more power.

07/23/2012 - 2012 Team One Northeast Showcase Danny is an athletic SS that will graduate in 2015. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.4 60 time. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks ground balls and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft, clean, and sure as he makes all the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on the feeds / turns of the double play. Throws are accurate, flashing carry across the diamond as he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Corvino shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 2 for 5. With 3 years to further develop, Danny has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
