01/17/2014 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Pirate City Darren worked out both in the OF and on the mound during Pirate City. Defensively, Darren gets in a good ready position, he tracks the ball well, and he makes plays consistently. On the mound, Darren has a free arm action, solid mechanics, and he finishes in a square position. At the plate, Darren has a balanced set-up, some bat speed, and he makes consistent contact.

10/06/2013 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Wolff showed only on the mound at the event. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 73-75 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He throws a slider that resembles his breaking ball but is slightly harder. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and throws more strikes.

08/25/2013 - College PREP - Farmingville (Long Island), NY Darren is a L/R RHP/OF that only showed as an OF in his first Factory outing. In the outfield, he is aggressive in his approach, plays through ground balls with sure hands and has a good exchange. Playing behind and through fly-balls will increase his efficiency as a defender. Offensively, he has a good setup, a contact approach and gets good extension through the ball. More lower half and a shorter compact barrel delivery will increase bat speed and power. Overall, Darren projects best as a left handed swinging OF that covers ground and makes plays with the glove.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
