01/25/2015 - College PREP - Jackson, MS Darrick is a lean 1B that will graduate in 2016. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.47 60 time. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid power potential through a squared / athletic setup and an aggressive approach. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with ball jumping off bat when centered. For hitting grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. At 1B, he shows good ready position and shows good first step and works to square balls up. Hands are soft / clean with defensive grade continuing to improve as he presents hand more out front and improves footwork around bag. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Darrick has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
