07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) David continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, is where he has improved the most through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and he presents on time and out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-71 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. With 4 years to further develop, David has the makings of a special type player with time and room to continue to progress his game.

04/30/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Charlottesville, VA David is a (5'9"/150) 1B/RHP. Defensively at 1B, he's quick with his feet as he gets into a low/athletic fielding position. He funnels GB's with soft hands and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. On the hill, this righty gathers over the rubber and delivers from a 3/4 arm slot. He keeps his eyes on target as he pounds the zone with strikes. With the stick, David uses a middle of the field approach. He explodes his lower 1/2 and whips his barrel quickly through the zone as he drives pitches on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
