07/30/2020 - Summer Pro Training Experience - MD (HS) David continues to shine on the diamond. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 68 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

10/26/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching/Catching & Offensive Skills Combined Weekend (Ages 14-18) David is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, David attacks hitters with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 67mph. Breaking ball sits from 51-52mph with 12-6 break. Changeup sits from 59-61mph. Being more controlled gathering to a balance point can help David improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and solid pop. David can improve as a hitter by keeping two hands on the bat through contact. Overall, David is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) David continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, power potential has improved through a squared setup. He has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, feet are active as he shows proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. Fastball shows a range of 69-70 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

03/17/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Ashburn (DC), VA David is a tall, 2-way player who plays 1B and RHP. Defensively, David has active feet, he moves well to the ball, and he makes plays consistently. He has a clean exchange, he follows his throws, and delivers the ball with accuracy and momentum to his target. On the mound, David stands over the rubber well balanced, he separates on time, and lands with good direction toward home plate. He keeps his eyes on target, has some glove side lead, and he competes in the zone with his pitches. Offensively, David has a square set-up, good balance, and quick hands. He has fast bat speed, swings on plane, and makes hard contact to all fields. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
