Official Scouting Report

01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament David continues to improve and impress in all areas of the game. Defensively, he has improved his routes/angles and gets behind the ball before playing through consistently. At the plate, David continues to display sound balance, a level path and some extension through the zone with good separation. He has good bat speed, can spray the ball to all fields and makes square contact consistently to apply pressure to opposing defenses. On the mound, David competes while pitching to contact and changing speeds. He has sound glove side action and does a nice job of repeating his delivery with sound rhythm and tempo. Overall, David is developing steadily and will be a nice option for a program at the next level.

09/19/2012 - Under Armour Fall Classic Stallworth continues to show outstanding abilities in the OF with the makings of a special type player at the next level. Feet are quick / athletic as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and goes back well. He reads balls well off his bat and covers a lot of ground but needs to work to get behind balls more to play through and continue to improve defensive grade. Throws display accuracy, life, and on line carry into his target as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, David shows an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level / aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball exploding off his bat when centered. He did show on the mound with his fastball topping out at 84 mph. He attacks hitters, working to get ahead and he throws a lot of strikes.

07/29/2012 - Under Armour Southwest Regional Tournament Stallworth showed as an OF/RHP at the event and continues to project best in the OF for the next level. Feet are active / aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls but needs to work to get behind balls more to continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate is where David shows best. He shows an athletic stance with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He needs to develop better off speed stuff to continue to improve stock on the mound.

07/13/2012 - 2012 Team One South Showcase At Team One South, David displayed natural instincts and aggressive routes in the outfield, along with plenty of carry on his throws to the infield. His defensive abilities should continue to develop as he learns to maintain a consistent arm slot. At the plate, he has strong, balanced, and quick hands that allow him to stay inside the baseball well. His offensive tools should continue to improve as he learns to fire his hips to contact. As a 2013 graduate, David has the opportunity to continue to develop his skills in preparation for the next level.

05/27/2012 - College PREP - Lebanon (Nashville), TN David is a tall, athletic OF/RHP that will graduate in 2013. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level, but also shows well on the mound. Feet are quick / aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls in the OF. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process as he is fundamentally sound. Throws are accurate with on line carry into his target as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Stallworth continues to shine through an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He loads well, uses his lower half aggressively, and shows plus barrel accuracy with the baseball exploding off his bat when centered. On the mound, his off speed pitches show potential as being quality pitches at the next level. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp breaking action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a solid feel for with arm side run. Command / control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. David has the makings to be a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
