10/27/2013 - College PREP - Fort Myers, FL David is a solid 3B/RHP that will graduate in 2017. At 3B, feet are active as he works to square balls up and displays clean hands in making the routine plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on the feeds of the double play. For defensive to continue to improve, he needs to attack balls more, play through while presenting hands more out front, and increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup with balance. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to improve bat speed and barrel accuracy. Power grades will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more and add overall body strength. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 67-71 mph with. Breaking ball displays sweeping action as he needs to work to stay on top of pitch more. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained and he works to throw more strikes. With 4 years to further develop, David has abilities with time and room to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
