06/15/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1
Davidson continued to show as an RHP/1B but currently projects slightly better on the mound for the next level. Arm strength has improved as he threw his best velocity to date, topping out at 81 mph. Fastball showed a range of 80-81 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual breaking action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a plus feel for with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. Command / control are outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches, changing speeds well. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. At 1B, feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. He works to square balls up but needs to play through balls more and present hands out front to continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, he displays quick hands, flashing bad speed through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays hard and is very coachable.
05/19/2013 - College PREP - Rochester, NY
Davidson shows consistency in his game. This big bodied 2-way player projects well at both 1B and on the mound. Defensively, he shows aggressiveness and works to get into a square fielding position. On the bump, his 4-pitch repertoire keeps hitters off balance. CH shows as best off-speed. He fills up the zone and throws strikes with all of his pitches. At the plate, he displays some bat speed and squares the ball up. He puts the ball in play consistently and will get on base a lot. Ludwikowski should have a successful senior season.
12/27/2012 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament
Davidson worked out both on the mound and at 1B during his time in Pirate City. On the hill, Davidson showed a loose / free arm, a controlled balance point, and level shoulders. He has good direction toward home, he lands in a square position, and he gets good extension on his pitches. At 1B, Davidson is a good target, he moves well around the bag, and he makes plays. Offensively, Davidson has a square set-up, a level swing, and he flashes strength in his swing.
09/22/2012 - Pitching/Catching Accelerated Training Weekend (Commuter) (Ages 14-18)
Davidson is a promising young RHP who fills out his tall, athletic frame nicely. He brings a good presence to the mound as he looks the part. His fastball has slight action to it, and he is able to locate consistently. His CB is a plus pitch for him as he sees a sharp 12/6 action to it, and throws it with FB arm speed. His CH is another promising pitch for him as it has some sink to it and is able to throw it with good arm speed. Davidson locates all of his pitches for strikes, and has a good command of his whole arsenal. He has a good strong lower 1/2 which works properly and allows him to throw downhill. At times Davidson will cut off lower half prior to full finish, which can be fixed as he understands his mechanics more and more. Davidson has sounds mechanics and will continue to improve with added strength and mobility.
02/17/2012 - Myrtle Beach College Kickoff
Davidson is a big, young, 2-way player who pitches and catches. On the mound, Davidson has good mechanics, he works to his balance point well, and he breaks his hands in sequence. He uses his glove side well, he throws his FB for strikes, and he finishes well over his front knee. Davidson can improve on the mound with loosening his wrist, getting more extension on his pitches, and adding arm strength. Behind the plate, Davidson has a square set-up, he looks the ball into his glove, and he tries to keep it in front when blocking. He will need to soften his glove, loosen his actions, and shorten his arm action in order to improve. Offensively, Davidson is a strong hitter with a good set-up. He has a good stride and load, and he flashes some pop in his bat. Improved barrel accuracy along with better use of his lower 1/2 can help offensive numbers spike.
