08/01/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Dallas, TX David demonstrated impressive versatility as a right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher during the All-Ripken games in Frisco, TX. On the mound, he showcased a fastball that ranged from 71-74 mph with arm-side sink, and his quick time from movement to the plate at 1.53 seconds allows his catcher a solid chance to control the running game. Defensively, David exhibited great athleticism and plus range, consistently getting to and fielding the ball effectively. At the plate, he made a significant impact, recording multiple hits, including several home runs—one of which was an impressive opposite-field shot. His all-around skills make him a standout prospect with a bright future ahead in baseball.

12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic Davis is an athletic 5 ft 8/140 3B/RHP in the 2030 class out of Lubbock, TX. Scouts felt he performed well and played above grade level at the West Coast Winter Classic. In the field, he creates a balanced set-up and demonstrates smooth footwork. Displays agility in his angle pursuit and obtains a low fielding position. Presents his pocket well and creates a loose 3 qtr. slot. Arm plays at 75 and is accurate to his targets. On the mound, he shows a big upside. He generates a short arm circle and hides the ball well. His FB sat 67-8 and can move the ball around the zone. His CH has sinking action from a natural stroke. At the plate, scouts liked his approach at the plate. He rarely expands the zone and sees the ball well. Stays in control of his movements and will adjust nicely as he sees more next level pitching. Overall, Davis is a fine 2030 player with a big future ahead of him.

08/27/2023 - National Showcase - Plainview (Lubbock), TX Davis is a 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2030. A young/developing player with strength present and plenty of room to add throughout. At 3B, he works to center the baseball and shows ability to make routine plays. Works into a square fielding position, with ability to pick out hops, and fields out front. Made on-line throws to first base from a 3/4 arm slot, with momentum to his target, and an arm velocity up to 73mph. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and has level eyes. He has a simple and repeatable delivery with good direction down the mound. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 64-66mph with plus command, and a changeup with good movement that he throws with FB arm speed. CH was best pitch during his bullpen session. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and square stance. A simple setup to start and swings with intent. Gets a good lower half turn and has a high finish. A direct barrel path enables him to hit line drives into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 72mph. With 3 years of continued growth and development until he enters high school, we foresee Davis making huge strides in high school and beyond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
