10/18/2023 - Arizona Easton Fall Classic Dawson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the Arizona Easton Fall Classic. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes good first steps in reading balls off the bat. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with online carry (82 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a short / direct / level swing path, creating extension. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 70-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/07/2023 - National Showcase - Houston, TX Dawson is an OF/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2027. A young/developing player with strength present and plenty of room to add throughout. In the OF, showed active feet and ability to cover ground in all directions. Aggressive routes enable him to create good fielding angles as he works through the ball. Showed ability to flip his hips and go get balls. Made on-line throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, with good carry, and an arm velocity up to 81mph. On the mound, this right-handed pitcher has a good rear hip coil and keeps his eyes on target. He gathers over rubber and works with good direction down the mound. Attacks hitters with his FB that sits 71-73mph with plus command. Mixed in a 9/3 shaped slider with tight spin and a changeup with good movement that he throws with FB arm speed. CH was best pitch during his bullpen. A right-handed hitter he hits from a tall and closed stance. Showed good plate discipline and only offered at pitches in the zone. Showed quick hands as he sprayed balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 81mph during BP. As he continues to develop and mature, we see Dawson having opportunities to play at the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
