07/28/2023 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC (HS) Dawson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, arm strength have improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Fastball showed a range of 74-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a great teammate and is very coachable on the field.

01/29/2023 - National Showcase - Indianapolis, IN Dawson is a 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2026. Medium frame athletic build with strength present. At 3B, starts with a good prep step with athletic actions. Works around baseball, with good direction towards target, and showed good lateral range. Long arm action in back, with a high 3/4 release point coming forward, and made on-line throws with an arm velocity up to 81mph. On the mound, gathers over the rubber, with a good rear hip coil, and has a clean arm action. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, with ability to repeat his delivery, and works with good direction down the mound. Flashed a FB that sat 70-72mph with command in the zone, a 10/4 slider with sharp break, and a changeup with tailing action that he throws with FB arm speed. CH has potential to be a swing and miss pitch. At the plate, he hits from an upright and open stance. Takes an aggressive swing and keeps his weight between his knees. Hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 74mph. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect making huge strides on the baseball diamond.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
