01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Dean is a short, strong, athlete that plays 2B and RHP. He currently projects better at 2B than on the mound. Defensively, Dean's hands and feet work well together, and he moves well laterally. He makes plays on balls hit his way, but will need to get more lower 1/2 flexion, field the ball out in front of his body, and attack the ball more aggressively, for defensive skills to further improve. On the mound, Dean has decent arm speed, and okay arm swing. He gets good balance, good direction toward the plate, and his head remains quiet. He throws all of his pitches for strikes and pitches to contact. More glove side lead, and more arm strength will help Dean's stock on the mound rise. Offensively, Dean has good balance and bat speed. He can square the ball up on the barrel and he puts the ball in play. Abilities can improve if Dean can widen his base and have his hands aggressively attack the baseball more directly.
