08/01/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Dallas, TX Declen is an impressive multi-positional player with a tall, strong frame that enhances his athleticism on the field. Defensively, he showcased an athletic approach to the baseball, demonstrating notable arm strength. At the plate, his aggressive strategy of swinging at strikes resulted in multiple hits, including a standout triple during the event. On the mound, Declen’s fastball ranged from 55-58 mph, delivered with a loose arm action. As he continues to refine his mechanics, it will be important for him to maintain a consistent tempo down the mound; he tends to struggle when he slows down his mechanics. Overall, his combination of physicality and skill makes him a valuable asset on any team.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
