04/30/2023 - National Showcase - Elgin (Chicago), IL Declan is a 2024 2B/OF out of Winnetka, IL who attends New Trier High School. At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 2B, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active but needs to attack ball and play through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Delcan as he enters the summer going into his senior year.

09/21/2022 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic (2024) Declan is an athletic OF out of Winnetka, IL who has a promising future on the diamond. He's coachable, works hard, and is a team player. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with carry to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness (7.31 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, power potential is outstanding through an open setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through an aggressive hip turn. He has strength in his swing with the baseball exploding off when centered. When Declan gets on he's an excellent base runner. With 2 years to further develop, Declan has potential and will get looks from collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
