Official Scouting Report

  • OF/2BPosition Projection

09/18/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Conroe (Houston), TX Denali is an OF/2B prospect who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build, with strong lower half, and strength present. In the OF, good prep to start, with fluid/active feet, and showed ability to play through baseball. Works from right to left as he fields from an athletic/low fielding position with low funnel off of his left foot. He has a short arm stroke, with an over-the-top release point, and creates momentum on his throws. Made accurate and on-line throws into infield with an arm velocity up to 86mph. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and closed stance. Simple/smooth swing, with quick hands, and takes an aggressive swing at baseball. Showed a flat barrel path, with good extension, as he hit balls hard to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 86mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Denali having opportunities to play at the next level.

12/08/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Nyack (NYC), NY Denali worked out at SS and behind the plate during his last workout with The Factory. He showed very well in all areas. In the INF, Denali has fluid footwork, agile movements, and a presentable glove. He fields athletically, moves quickly to the ball, and can throw with accuracy from multiple arm slots to his target. Behind the plate, Denali has smooth/athletic actions, quick feet, and a soft glove. He blocks and receives well, his exchange is clean, and he throws with carry to 2nd base. Pop times lowered to 2.28 seconds. Offensively, Denali is a strong hitter with good balance and fast bat speed. He swings in good rhythm, makes hard contact consistently, and he uses his lower body.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Denali continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Pop times showed in the 2.47 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the ball quicker. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 5 for 9 with a 3B and inside the park HR. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a solid team player.

02/18/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Denali lowered pop times and showed offensive improvements during his last workout with The Factory. Behind the plate, Denali has active feet, agile movements, and a low/athletic set-up. He has firm hands, a quick release, and carry and accuracy to 2nd base. Pop times lowered to 2.44 seconds. In the INF, Denali has quick feet, athletic actions, and he takes good angles to the ball. He fields aggressively, his exchange is clean, and he delivers the ball with accuracy to his target. At the plate, Denali improved hitting and power grades to 35's. He stands in athletically, has a good load, and fast bat speed. He makes square contact gap to gap and he uses his lower body.

12/09/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Nyack (NYC), NY Denali is an athletic, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and catcher. At 2nd base, Denali has fluid footwork, soft hands, and he fields in an athletic position. He fields smoothly, has a quick/clean exchange, and throws with carry and accuracy across the diamond. Behind the plate, Denali has fluid/active feet, he sits in low, and presents his glove well. He holds a low target, moves well laterally, and has a quick release with accuracy to 2nd base. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
