10/18/2020 - All-In Membership - San Antonio, TX Derek is an athletic (5'10"/160) SS who can make things happen. With the bat, this RH swinger steps into the box with a purpose. He shows an athletic/open stance with active hands to load. He gets good separation, whips the barrel with + bat speed and engages his lower 1/2 well, resulting in pop (exit velocity = 87 mph). At SS, he has active footwork and works fluidly right to left in his approach to the GB. Hands are presented out in front as he gathers well and has the ability to fire across the diamond from multiple arm angles. Farrera is a talented MIF prospect who will make an impact in this his junior year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
