07/30/2015 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown Derek is a 6'/145 lbs RHP/SS that showed his best ability on the bump at his most recent Factory outing. On the rubber, he threw his FB from 73-76, and spun a 10/4 CB from 64-69 with late break. He had a good live arm and his sharp CB allowed him to keep hitters off balance. Towel drill and a throwing program will boost front side extension (command) and arm strength. In the infield, he made the routine plays with efficient feet and body control. He began to work through the baseball to help secure his hops and gain momentum to throw. Offensively, he showed quick hands to get the barrel in the zone. He worked in the cage to implement more lower half drive with hand coordination for more pop. All in all - Derek is an athletic senior that runs well (6.96 sixty) and projects on the hill.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
