07/11/2017 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Desmond is an athletic OF who continues to show great work habits and improvements. In the outfield, he showed athletic actions attacking the ball aggressively and creating a quick exchange into his throw. Desmond's throws from the OF were accurate and low. Added repetitions and a long toss program will help polish his skills in the outfield. At the plate, Desmond starts in a tall stance, and uses a long stride to create separation for power. Taking more swings, and getting stronger will help Desmond drive more balls in the gaps. Being a 2020 graduate, he needs to continue to improve and work hard.

04/02/2017 - College PREP - Sanford (Orlando), FL Desmond is a lean, athletic OF who will graduate in 2020. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.25. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls but needs to take better routes / angles. He makes the routine play but will benefit by working to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his quick feet well in covering a lot of ground, displaying range. Throws are accurate but needs to get rid of the baseball quicker and build more arm strength through a long toss program to improve arm grade. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Desmond has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
